The ST1S06DEMOBO12 evaluation board is an off-line switch mode power supply (SMPS) which offers designers a comprehensive platform to evaluate the features and performance of ST\'s high performance and low cost ST1S06 high voltage integrated circuit. This board is perfect for applications in motor control, household appliances, telecom equipment, and solar inverters.
The ST1S06DEMOBO12 evaluation board is based on the ST1S06, a high voltage integrated device designed to directly drive and control a boost or buck power switch in flyback, forward, and half-bridge topologies. It includes a high voltage buffer, which can drive two power switches providing up to 6A output current, as well as high-voltage and low-voltage linear regulation, temperature protection, over-current limit, and programmable dead time.
The SMPS evaluation board features a wide input voltage range, low standby power consumption and superior capability in transient response and line regulation. The board operates at a nominal switching frequency of 500kHz. The power switch is usually operated in pair as a “wake-up” pin is used to reset the system on startup.
The board also features a multi-colored LED for monitoring the system status. This LED is connected to the error flag pin of the ST1S06 and blinks or remains illuminated, depending on the system’s operation conditions. The board also features a low voltage buzzer to notify the user of any errors.
The board includes an IC that integrates several functions such as a soft start, current limit, over temperature protection, and over-voltage protection. Also featured is a “monitoring” terminal that enables the user to view the waveform at any node. This helps designers understand the operation and performance of the device.
