Working Principle of ST1S06PM12R

The precise buck regulator control scheme of the ST1S06PM12R is based on a conventional zero-current detection (ZCD) principle. This buck regulator topology maintains a zero voltage at the output by switching the power MOSFET on and off at a frequency set by an external resistor.In a buck converter, the power transistor acts as a switch, switching between the supply voltage and ground. At the same time, an inductor connected to the power switch coil acts as a filter, storing and releasing energy. The inductor carries the load current, and the capacitor filters the output voltage ripple. The transistor duty cycle, hence the average output voltage, is determined by the ratio of the voltage on the feedback (FB) pin to the internal reference voltage. The voltage applied to the FB pin is compared to the internal reference through the transformer. An error signal is generated if the two voltages are unequal and the output voltage is regulated by adjusting the duty cycle of the transistor until the FB voltage matches the internal reference voltage.
