This battery charger provides high-efficiency charging, with an integrated system DC-DC converter that offers a low dropout voltage.Working Principle of STBC02JR Battery Charger
The STBC02JR Battery Charger utilizes a unique system-level architecture that includes an advanced ST charging algorithm, a power-aware sequencer and comprehensive protection features.Power is supplied to the battery through an external power supply and is supplied from the battery to the Load by a switching regulator and power MOSFET. The current and voltage at both the battery and the load are monitored by the power monitoring circuit.The system power-aware sequencer manages the energy flow and monitors signals from the system load and power sources. An advanced ST charging algorithm ensures safe, efficient and reliable battery charging. The charger ensures that the battery is charged quickly and efficiently without overcharging or overdischarging, and provides a wide range of protection features.When the system is powered on, the battery voltage and temperature sensing circuit (TSC) monitor the battery voltage and temperature levels. Once the battery reaches its full charge, the charge circuit is shut down, preventing overcharging.If the battery voltage drops below the over-discharge trip point, the system will automatically shut down and prevent any further charges to the battery. In addition, the STBC02JR includes a current-sensing circuit that is used to detect overcurrents in the system, such as short circuits or charged cell rejects. When an overcurrent is detected, the charger will shut down and the system will enter into a low power state.The STBC02JR also includes a safety timer circuit that monitors the status of the charger, and prevents overcharging of the battery for any greater period of time. If the charger has been on for more than a predetermined period, the power supply will be disabled, regardless of the charger’s output state.Conclusion
