When the voltage across the battery drops below the predetermined cut-off threshold of 3.2V, the controller then changes the state of the device by turning off the stand-by mode and transitioning into an active charging mode.The active charging mode begins with the charger IC increasing the current draw of the battery until the pre-set value is reached. This value is usually between the 0.4 and 1A range, depending on the capacity of the battery. During these charging cycles, this IC monitors the battery temperature and current levels in order to avoid any overheating or current draw that would be dangerous for the battery.Once the current has reached its pre-set value, the charger IC then starts to monitor the voltage level of the battery. When the voltage reaches the 4.2V level, the device then transitions back into stand-by mode and stops drawing any current to the battery. This is known as the constant voltage charging phase and is a critical step in ensuring battery longevity and safe charging. When the battery has been effectively charged, the charger IC will enter its complete charge-termination condition. The charger then slowly reduces the current to the battery until it reaches its 0.2A threshold. This is the final stage of the charging process and is achieved by the charger IC.Conclusion
