RF Evaluation and Development Kits are immensely valuable tools used to aid the evaluation process of RF-based applications and devices. The STEVAL-BTDP1 (STEVAL-BTDP1) is a Bluetooth development platform pack designed to facilitate the evaluation of components and systems developed for Bluetooth low energy applications. Its hardware and software resources enable a wide range of experiments and development activities related to the most recent version of Bluetooth low energy.
The STEVAL-BTDP1 is composed of two parts - the STEVAL-BTDP1 Evaluation Board and the STEVAL-BTDP1 Software Toolpack. The Evaluation Board is a sem-custom, general-purpose prototyping platform, which is based on a NXP processor, and contains many of the essentials, such as digital and analog components, antennas, battery holders, and connectors, to build a base system necessary for the development, design, debugging and evaluation of Bluetooth low energy applications. The Software Toolpack is a suite of software tools that allow for quick and easy development, debugging, and evaluation of Bluetooth low energy applications.
The STEVAL-BTDP1 Evaluation Board provides a variety of custom-shaped development boards for users to test and develop their own Bluetooth low energy applications. The development boards can be connected to one another to create a mesh network which allows the user to build a wireless network efficient enough to support the transfer of data using Bluetooth communication protocols. By connecting the development boards, users can create small, medium or large networks ranging from a single device to multi-node networks.
In addition to the development boards, the STEVAL-BTDP1 also provides a variety of different development tools for the user to make use of. The development tools are essential in order to debug, simulate, and evaluate the designed system with greater efficiency. The development tools are also capable of revealing and displaying the complete details of the system and provide helpful information about the development process for users to review before releasing their system.
In terms of its working principle, the STEVAL-BTDP1 utilizes a Bluetooth Protocol Stack, which is responsible for the physical and logical communication between the development boards. The Bluetooth Protocol Stack facilitates the integration of wireless devices, allowing users to monitor, configure, and control their system. To achieve this, the Bluetooth Protocol Stack utilizes a communication protocol known as GAP which stands for Generic Access Profile. GAP is used to establish, maintain, and terminate a Bluetooth connection.
The STEVAL-BTDP1 also contains a security module named SAP, which stands for Synchronized Security Protocol. SAP provides access control, data encryption, authentication, and secure communication for data transfer. To ensure the device does not fall into the wrong hands, the STEVAL-BTDP1 comes with a security protocol to protect user information. It is also equipped with AES-128 encryption to keep data secure from malicious software.
