The STEVAL-ILL039V2 is an evaluation board that is part of the STMicroelectronics LED Drivers range. It is a fully-featured and programmable LED driver that has been designed for automotive exterior lighting applications and can be used to drive up to 8 channels.

This evaluation board features an inbuilt 4-channel LED driver STLED374A, allowing for dimmable LED driving for application in LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, LED high beams and LED daytime running lights. It has an inbuilt boost converter and an adjustable-current LED sink driver, enabling led current from 16 mA to 320 mA (for headlamps) and 16 mA to 32 mA (for fog lamps). Control is provided via PWM, allowing for changing of LED brightness and current.

The STEVAL-ILL039V2 also features an inbuilt temperature monitor, allowing for monitoring of temperature in order to protect the device from possible damage due to overheating. In addition, the evaluation board features current sensing capabilities, allowing for controlling of LED current to protect it from possible damage due to excessive currents.

The STEVAL-ILL039V2 also features communication interface with a RapidPro active programming protocol. This enables fast programming of the device with simple and intuitive commands, reducing time and effort of development and programming. It also allows the user to program the device via a PC, laptop or mobile device. The evaluation board also contains an in-built on-board memory, allowing for easy storage of configuration settings and data.
