Evaluation Boards - LED Drivers is a category of boards that provide engineers and designers with flexibility and a comprehensive set of development and testing options. STEVAL-ILL084V1 application field and working principle is an LED driver evaluation board that provides a complete switching LED driver solution for all kinds of LED backlight applications.
STEVAL-ILL084V1 is optimized for driving LED pads, channels and strings, making it suitable for large LCDs, televisions and monitors. The system incorporates all the functional stages which are necessary to drive, control and regulate the LED backlight. It includes the input diode bridge rectifier (BD1), a full-bridge inverter (IC1), a controller (IC2) and a power stage (Q1, L1, D5). This evaluation board also incorporates a number of safety and protection features which include an optoblock (VBAT1) for output overcurrent limitation and a thermistor for thermal protection.
The evaluation board also features comprehensive diagnostic capabilities. A signal injection circuit is also provided which facilitates the use of a signal generator and an oscilloscope to evaluate the system\'s performance and monitoring including verification of signal integrity, signal debouncing and MOSFET saturation. In order to monitor the current and voltage, two sets of terminals are present at the top and bottom of the board.
The board features mean well\'s pre-regulated LED driver ICs. LED driver current is controlled by an LCR-style current controller IC, which can accurately trim the current over a wide range of LED load and temperature. The driver IC also has integrated MOSFETs. In order to maximize efficiency and minimize EMI, a high frequency switching buck converter is used. The board also features an auxiliary winding, which translates current from the primary to the secondary side.
