Evaluation and demonstration boards and kits offer engineers the flexibility to evaluate and demonstrate a variety of new technologies. STEVAL-IPP004V1 is one such board that can be used for a variety of applications. This board is a low power demonstration board based on the STM8S003F3P6 ultra low power microcontroller from STMicroelectronics.
This board enables users to quickly evaluate the integrated power saving features of the STM8S003F3P6 microcontrollers, providing the flexibility to create customized applications tailored for a variety of demands. It facilitates the design, development, testing and optimization of energy saving features. The STEVAL-IPP004V1 board requires only a 5V power supply and works within a temperature range of 0°C to 70°C.
On the STEVAL-IPP004V1 board, the STM8S003F3P6 microcontroller is supported by 32 KB of Flash memory, 1 KB of RAM and a 2Kx8 EEPROM. This board is drilled with 1.27 mm holes and has four 3 x 7 sink holes for connection to external components. Other external peripherals like an I-bus, CLK synchronization input, real time clock (RTC) and UART are available on the board and can be used to facilitate designs.
The board possesses a 3.3V/5V regulator, 3.3V LED indicator, voltage supervisor IC, potentiometers, two tactile buttons, three jumpers, USB connector, 10-way connectors for RESET/EXT/I-BUS signals, crystal, power switches for BSL/FLASH and external power, and header pins to access the I/Os.
The STEVAL-IPP004V1 board also integrates a low power Down Counter with software PWM. This low power technology reduces the device\'s power consumption and increases efficiency. The low power technology is also utilized through a wake-up feature and an integrated watchdog integral to the microcontroller.
The STEVAL-IPP004V1 provides maximum code and data security, thanks to the integrated one-time programmable memory. The STM8S003F3P6 microcontroller features hardware and software mechanisms to protect the applications and data.
The built-in power save modes, some of which can be fully programmable, make the STEVAL-IPP004V1 an ideal candidate for low power, battery operated applications. Further, the low power Clock management system reduces the Clock frequency dynamically depending on the system load, reducing power consumption and increasing application run time.
STMicroelectronics has provided a comprehensive development suite, including the STM8 I-DE Software Development Tool, to provide GUI-based programming and easy debugging functionality for the STEVAL-IPP004V1 Board. The Board also supports the STVP-STM8 integrated development environment (IDE).
These features make the STEVAL-IPP004V1 board well-suited for a variety of applications, from home automation and industrial control systems to consumer electronics and power management products. The Board can be used to develop energy efficient designs and solutions with low power operation, longer operating time and enhanced performance.
