The STEVAL-ISA044V2 evaluation board is part of a range of evaluation boards and integrated development tools from STMicroelectronics. This board belongs to the Evaluation Boards - DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS, and is designed as an easy-to-use reference platform for developers, engineers, system integrators and users.

The STEVAL-ISA044V2 board is designed to be used in applications such as solar/wind power supplies, battery-powered and battery-charged equipment, and consumer and industrial applications. It features adjustable peak current control, a PFC boost controller, improved EMI performance, low start-up current and optimized control-loop dynamics. The board is rated at 1050 W output power and is equipped with an integrated energy-harvesting circuit and energy-harvesting optimized Design of Experiments (DoE) capabilities.

The board adopts the STM32F091VC MCU to control all board functions and provides a versatile and cost-effective platform for SMPS application development. The board also incorporates the L9952W, an offline PFC boost controller offering greater than 500 kHz switching frequency and rising time of less than 2.7 µs. Moreover, full security coverage and EMI acceptability are handled by the STSPIN220AS dual-channel H-bridge driver, offering 4.5 A peak current and 15 A sourced or sunk current capability.

The STEVAL-ISA044V2 application board features up to 6-V DC input supply range from 130 V AC or 260 V DC. The board provides a highly efficient, full-bridge design, with an active front end (AFE). It has a peak efficiency of 92% and is able to supply transient output current. This allows the user to quickly and easily modify or alter the application for different voltage levels, different DC-DC configurations, and different energy-harvesting applications.

The board includes a comprehensive set of graphical user interfaces (GUIs) that enable users to quickly and easily program and customize all board functions. GUIs are provided for energy-harvesting control, over-voltage and over-temperature protection, and system status monitoring for improved system diagnostics and performance. All settings can be stored and retrieved, thus allowing flexibility and scalability. Furthermore, programs for off-line programming of the board are also provided.

The STEVAL-ISA044V2 combines an all-in-one platform with integrated system-level monitoring, protection, and simulation capabilities. It offers a comprehensive evaluation kit and development platform for quick implementation of complete SMPS applications. Its open architecture enables user to fully customize the board for a variety of applications, including energy-harvesting, peak current control, and optimization of the control-loop dynamics.
