STEVAL-LNBH05 is a compact, high performance power supply evaluation board designed to provide optimum performance, flexibility, and ease of use in evaluating ST\'s low power, medium power off-line switching regulator integrated circuit products. The board is ideal for evaluating ST\'s power management products in high efficiency AC/DC and DC/DC applications. The board is available in two configurations, an universal socket and an adjustable configuration.The STEVAL-LNBH05 board is based on and offers optimized performance of a modular high efficiency series resonance type circuit. This circuit uses a pulse frequency modulation (PFM) control method that incorporates two-phase operation with half-bridge control along with a low cost single-output MOSFET and a single-inductor full bridge converter. This combination of modules enables a compact package, with good thermal resistance and overload protection along with superior efficiency levels.STEVAL-LNBH05 incorporates a variety of features designed to ensure its long life and reliability. The board is equipped with a variety of safety features including overcurrent protection, overvoltage protection, short circuit protection and thermal protection. The board also provides a selectable power limiter to prevent output voltage overshoot condition.To ensure the best results and performance of the STEVAL-LNBH05 board, it should be properly operated within the specified range of ambient temperature, load current and input power supply. The output voltage should be monitored and maintained at the specified level and the current and voltage limit switches should be set as per the application requirements.The typical application fields for STEVAL-LNBH05 include various AC/DC or DC/DC topologies such as buck, boost, and flyback converters, DC/DC converters, and AC/DC adapters. The board can be used in various applications, from low-power applications, such as mobile phone or laptop computer adapters, up to high-power applications, such as industrial servers.The working principles for STEVAL-LNBH05 board is based on modular switching, which provides superior efficiency levels and high level of reliability. The board is equipped with a number of integrated circuits and specialized components such as MOSFET driver, bootstrap diode, bootstrap capacitor, EMI filter inductor, and active rectifier circuit.At the input of the board, the integrated AC or DC voltage is provided to the bridge rectifier circuit, which then supplies power to the main power switch (MOSFET). The gate of the MOSFET is driven by a PWM signal to provide the necessary control and speed to the switching process.The output of the board is then regulated and the current is managed by means of the integrated current regulator and the feedback loop. The voltage is set by the voltage divider and is monitored by the comparator circuit, while the current is set by the current limiting feature.
