The STEVAL-MKI081V1 evaluation board is an ultra-low-power motion tracking device, built with the STmicroelectronics LSM6DS3 6-axis inertial system in a 3x3x0.9mm package and the LIS2MDL magnetometer in a 2.1x2.1x0.9 mm package. The device enables applications such as activity and fitness trackers, orientation sensing and navigation as well as gesture recognition and gaming. The board also includes the LPS25HB digital pressure sensor, which is a piezoresistive absolute pressure sensor capable of measuring pressure and temperature.
The main features of STEVAL-MKI081V1 evaluation board are:

Application Field:
The STEVAL-MKI081V1 evaluation board is suitable for development of a wide range of applications, such as activity and fitness trackers, orientation sensing and navigation as well as gesture recognition and gaming. The device can also be utilized for shock protection, automotive navigation systems, and other applications that require motion detection, vibration measurement, and temperature sensing.
Working Principle:
The STEVAL-MKI081V1 evaluation board acquires data from three separate sensors: the LSM6DS3 inertial system, the LIS2MDL magnetometer, and the LPS25HB pressure sensor. The LSM6DS3 inertial system is a 6-axis inertial system in a 3x3x0.9mm package featuring a digital output for 3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis gyroscope, significantly reducing the size of the overall system. The LIS2MDL magnetometer helps in detecting an orientation in the earth\'s magnetic field while the LPS25HB pressure sensor provides a sensing range of 260 to 1260 hPa for accurate measurement of pressure and temperature.
The data from the sensors is then transferred to the board via an I2C or SPI interface. The board also features a JTAG connector for easy debugging and programming. The data is then processed on the board and the results are outputted for the user to view in the appropriate format.
The STEVAL-MKI081V1 evaluation board also features a panic alarm that sets an alarm when acceleration exceeds the threshold of ±16g for shock protection. The motion detection feature, which uses the accelerometer and gyroscope, can detect inactivity and send an interruption signal to wake up the microcontroller. Additionally, the magnetometer\'s sensitivity is 800mG, and its temperature range is from -40°C to +85°C.
