The STEVAL-SPDC01V2 evaluation board is a versatile interface designed to accurately assess and implement DC/DC and AC/DC (off-line) switch-mode power supply (SMPS) systems, and is applicable to a wide range of devices from various vendors. It is mainly used for performance evaluation, application development and troubleshooting of switch-mode power supply designs.
The STEVAL-SPDC01V2 board is a versatile and easy-to-use platform for evaluating, testing and verifying the performance of various DC/DC and AC/DC (off-line) switch-mode power supply systems. The board incorporates SMPS ICs from STMicroelectronics, which enables rapid platform development and efficient platform integration to any application.
The STEVAL-SPDC01V2 evaluation board features a universal input voltage range of between 100 and 240 VAC, adjustable output voltage range of up to 40 VDC and output current up to 5A. The board also provides a wide output voltage range of 0 - all the way up to 40 VDC, which makes it ideal for various applications, ranging from LED lighting and automotive to industrial and consumer electronics and medical.
The STEVAL-SPDC01V2 evaluation board also features an integrated single-phase full bridge topology, which enables operation at low and high frequencies, a large number of available feedback control loop types, and an embedded 18-bit microcontroller, allowing for digital control of the power supply. The board also offers a wide range of features, including integrated digital isolators, protection against current overloads, reverse polarity and over voltage, as well as over temperature, chassis grounding and transient voltage protection.
The STEVAL-SPDC01V2 evaluation board also includes a number of software and hardware tools to facilitate the design process and facilitate debugging and troubleshooting, such as a CAN transceiver, EMI filter, Current Sense Resistor, Fault Report and an Over Voltage Protection Circuit. The Evaluation Board is easy to configure and offers a high degree of flexibility for various applications.
The STEVAL-SPDC01V2 evaluation board works on the principle of pulse width modulation (PWM) to generate the output voltage. A power stage consisting of a MOSFET switch is responsible for delivering the output power. The MOSFET switch is activated and deactivated via a pulse generated by the microcontroller. The pulse is generated by the microcontroller based on the voltage feedback and the output current feedback from the sense resistor.
The STEVAL-SPDC01V2 evaluation board offers a high degree of flexibility for various applications such as LED lighting, automotive, industrial, consumer electronics, audio and medical. This board can also be used in research and development for new SMPS design and evaluation. The Evaluation Board is a great platform for testing new designs and working principles for off-line SMPS systems.
