Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

The TE1162-E3 is an aluminum electrolytic capacitor, or an elecrolytic, that is designed for applications in which a high capacitance is needed in a small package area. It is a polarized capacitor, and its parts consist of two aluminum dampers, each of which is filled with an electrolyte solution and separated by a pinch of paper. The electrolyte solution helps improve the overall performance of the capacitor by allowing a greater capacitance per unit volume.

Application Field

The TE1162-E3 is mainly used in amplifier circuits, where a high-frequency signal is needed. It provides a stable signal, even when there is high-voltage fluctuations, as long as the current is kept within the rated current of the capacitor. It is also well suited for switching power supply circuits and high-frequency rectification circuits.

Working Principle

The capacitor works by storing electrical charge in the form of a potential difference between the two aluminum dampers. The electrical charge is stored in the form of a dielectric, which is an insulator. When an electrical charge is applied to the capacitor, it causes the potential difference between the two dampers to increase. This in turn causes the capacitance of the capacitor to increase. The higher the input voltage across the capacitor, the higher the capacitance increases.

When the capacitor is used to filter a signal, it removes any signal noise which would normally be present. This is done by blocking frequencies above a certain level from passing through the capacitor. As the capacitance increases, the blockage becomes more effective, resulting in a cleaner signal.
