1. Describe

The TJA1043TK/1Y is a high-speed CAN transceiver that operates between a Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol controller and a physical two-wire CAN bus. This transceiver is designed for high-speed (up to 1 Mbit/s) CAN applications in the automotive industry, providing differential transmit and receive functionality. The TJA1043 is NXP's third-generation high-speed CAN transceiver. Compared with the first and second generations, semiconductor devices such as the TJA1041A have been significantly improved. It offers improved electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic discharge (ESD) performance, very low power consumption, and passive behavior when the supply voltage is turned off. Advanced features include:

    1. Low-power management controls power to the entire node while supporting local and remote wake-up through wake-up source identification

    2. Multiple protection and diagnostic functions, including bus short detection and battery connection detection

    3. Direct connection to microcontrollers with a supply voltage of 3 V to 5 V

The TJA1043 is a stand-alone high-speed CAN transceiver with a number of operating modes, fail-safe features and diagnostic features that offer enhanced system reliability and advanced power management. The transceiver combines the functionality of the TJA1041A with improved EMC and ESD capability and quiescent current performance. Improved slope control and high DC handling capability on the bus pins provide additional application flexibility.
