TL5001CPSR/1G4 Application Field and Working Principle

TL5001CPSR/1G4 belongs to a DC DC switching controller series of PMIC - Voltage Regulators. It is a cost-effective power solutions designed to achieve high efficiency while driving MOSFETs. This integrated PWM controller is composed of an oscillator, 2x error amplifiers, compensation elements and MOSFET drivers. It incorporates with the two chopped outputs for their respective drain and sourcing MOSFETs, reducing the number of external components. This greatly facilitates system design and reduces BOM cost.

Functional Description

TL5001CPSR/1G4 can realize Synchronous Rectifier (Sync Rectifier) Output, Synchronous rectifier RDSON control, if synchronous rectifier MOSFET is used for buck step down converter, synchronous rectifier controller can optimize the power dissipation and improve efficiency. This power control IC incorporates with a wide range of features. It includes low voltage protection, parasitic MOSFET protection (e.g. UVLO, OVLO, Over temperature, etc.), soft start, over current protection, etc. That achieved an overall system function from end to end.

Working Principle

Based on voltage mode control, TL5001CPSR/1G4 is composed of an oscillator, 2x error amplifiers, compensation elements and MOSFET drivers. The external reference voltage is compared with the sensed output voltage, and the error signal has been amplified by the error amplifiers. The amplified error signal is then sent to the comparator and it drives to the MOSFET. This PWM controller drives the FET with a variable duty cycle and hence the voltage transfer from input to output is regulated.
