The TNY375GN-TL PMIC is a highly-integrated offline switcher device which is designed to provide a highly efficient solution for energy-saving applications. It integrates a low power synchronous rectifier controller, a drain-source current-mode PWM controller, a low-side MOSFET, an oscillator, adjustable soft-start, cycle-by-cycle current limit and thermal shutdown into one package. The TNY375GN-TL is suitable for applications such as off-line power supply, microprocessor standby power supply and low power AC/DC adapters.

The TNY375GN-TL is designed for low-power offline applications, such as consumer level ac/dc adapter and home appliance, which require high efficiency, instant startup, and low standby-power consumption. It provides an option for the designer who needs to save board space, and thus reduces the cost of the design. It does not require an external current mode controller and MOSFET, which reduces the component count and, therefore, overall system cost.
Working Principle:
The TNY375GN-TL uses a synchronous rectifier to enable the power switch with maximum efficiency, allowing the power adapter to achieve high efficiency and low power consumption in light-load operations. The device operates in constant frequency current mode control and allows for the design of a very simple and low component count solution with minimum external components. The device integrates an oscillator, PWM controller, synchronous rectification controller and a low side MOSFET. The output of the PWM comparator can be adjusted according to the output power while the current limit can be adjusted to a desired value.
The device can be shut down using the EN pin, which will disable the power switch and the whole circuit. The device has an alarm pin to indicate a fault condition, such as an over current or thermal shutdown. The device also has a soft-start pin that can be connected to an external capacitor to control the start-up ramp of the power switch. The soft start time can also be adjusted depending on the external capacitor.
