The device’s matched diode pair works together as a thermal protection switch; it eliminates the need for an isolation diode, and has an extremely low leakage.The TP5KP26CA TVS diodes are widely used in a range of sensitive and critical electronic applications, such as power supplies, communications and data systems, relays, amplifiers, wireless antennas, and automotive applications. They are used to protect circuits and components from ESD, EFT, and transients caused by electrical faults, lightning, and other triggering events. The working principle of the TP5KP26CA is fairly simple. When an overvoltage is applied to the TVS, it will rapidly conduct current from the device’s cathode to its anode. This will form a low impedance path between the source and the load, which is a much lower impedance than the path that the surge current would typically take. This creates an effective voltage divider circuit which reduces the surge amplitude entering the protected circuit.
