TPS53127RGET Voltage Regulator is a DB-Sink, DBR-Sink Sync Step-Down DC-DC controller. It is designed for small format, high efficiency and high power density with dynamic voltage positioning control. This device supports VFB/VOUT combinations such as: VFB set to 0.8VB or 1.05V, VCC set to 5V or VOUT set to 0.8V, and 2.5V, VOUT1 = 0.8V and VOUT2 = 5V or 2.5V, and 0.8V respectively.

This DC-DC controller provides product designers with high power density board space savings, improved efficiency and excellent transient response through use of the advanced switching techniques. The TPS53127RGET is designed to provide power conversion for socket processors and other mid-high power devices such as graphics cards, multi-processor boards, Wi-Fi and 3G base-stations and other embedded systems.

The DC-DC controller from TPS53127RGET utilizes synchronous rectification for improved efficiency, programmable output voltage for reduced minimal level of output ripple, and allows for smooth transition from PFM to PWM for improved latency characteristics. With its wide switching frequency range from 300 kHz to 1.5 MHz, the device allows users to maintain a low external component count and a high power density solution. Its Adaptive Output Voltage Positioning (AOVP) limits the output voltage ripple to a few mV during transients while simultaneously improving the turn-on and drop-out properties. An adjustable resistor setting allows adjustment of output voltage or slope compensation of the current mode control loop.

The TPS53127RGET supports various voltage combinations such as VFB=0.8V or 1.05V, VCC=5V or VOUT=0.8V and 2.5V, and VOUT1 = 0.8V and VOUT2 = 5V or 2.5V, and 0.8V, respectively. It also provides advanced features including Selectable Power-Gating Source/Sink to reduce power and maintain control of volatile output voltage during part idle or suspend, current limit, short and thermal protection and adjustable dead-time window for improved MOSFET selection and synchronous rectification.

The TPS53127RGET supports the industry wide input voltage range from 3.3V to 14V. When in current mode control, the controller operates with only one external MOSFET and an inductor, allowing for an extremely easy to use application. The device provides automatic output voltage control to ensure constant output voltage, even under load transients, via the integrated voltage loop and is also capable of very low output ripple.
