The TSL2581EVM is an evaluation board for a light-to-digital converter from Texas Instruments. It combines the TSL2581 high-sensitivity ambient light sensor and the MSP430 microcontroller to allow users to quickly and easily configure, measure and debug a system using the combination of the two devices. Application Field and Working Principle

A lower x value gives a higher resolution, while a higher x value gives a lower resolution. The LSB value is the smallest digital measurement that can be detected by the sensor.
To configure the TSL2581EVM, users can enter its default settings to define the TSL2581 light-to-digital converter’s configuration register, set the interrupt threshold and the ambient light data range. These settings let the user customize the TSL2581EVM according to their specific requirements. The board also allows users to measure the ambient light levels through direct access to the on-board light-to-digital converter.
The MSP430-based microcontroller on the TSL2581EVM provides the user with additional flexibility when creating their own applications.
