When the device is subjected to a fast transient, the device will redirect it away from the connected device.</p><p>As the transient peaks, the voltage across the transient voltage suppressor activates an internal circuit which instantly shorts the transient to ground. This action, in turn, clamps the peak voltage. The capacitor then gradually charges up, the effect of which is that does not allow the device to clamp the transient in subsequent peak current. This prevents the device from becoming damaged.</p><p>The TVS328S also has a very low power consumption.
