TVS(Transient Voltage Suppressor) devices are generally categorized as Varistors, MOVs(Metal Oxide Varistors),Transil®diodes and Gas Discharge Tubes (GDTs). Varistors/MOVs provides a low dynamic resistance shunt path to ground for instantaneous surge energies in response to excessive voltage surges. V07P420P, a professional Varistors/MOVs model from SGE, is used to absorb surge current and prevent further damage in case of overvoltage. Working Principle

V07P420P is based on Metal Oxide Varistors (MOV), a type of nonlinear, voltage-dependent devices which acts as a bidirectional switch with a very high current variability. When the voltage across the device exceeds a predetermined peak point, the MOV would conduct and divert the electricity away, thus clipping the transient and the voltage at its terminals would return to its pre-surge level. Specifically, V07P420P contains zinc oxide as the core media and multiple layers of electrodes that works effective in shorting the excess energy away. In addition, the high surge capability makes it able to tolerate up to 140kA 8/20μs impulse.
