Working Principle

The bridge rectifier contains four diodes connected together to form a bridge. During the negative cycle of the AC, the upper right, lower right, and lower left diode are in the forward bias while the upper left diode is in the reverse bias. During this cycle the current path is through the lower right and the upper left diode. Thus, the current is made to flow in one direction only, resulting in a DC output.
