Introduction
1N4002RL is a silicon rectifier diode type of semiconductor device that converts alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). Working Principle
The 1N4002RL diode is an electronic semiconductor device which has two contacts, depending on the type of usage they are called the anode and cathode. At the anode is a positive terminal where the current entering the diode is applied, and when the voltage applied is greater than the activation voltage necessary for its operation, then the diode will start to pass the current. When the voltage drops below the activation voltage, the diode will stop conduction, and just like this, it serves as an electric switch.
The 1N4002RL is a power-rated single-phase rectifier, with a maximum current rating of 800mA. The diode is designed for use with low-voltage rectification of AC and DC power supplies, allowing for the use of smaller, more efficient components than traditional discrete rectifiers.
When the 1N4002RL diode is used in bridge rectification applications, it is able to convert AC power into DC power. When the AC power source is connected, the diode conducts during the portion of the cycle when the anode is more positive than the cathode, and is reversed biased otherwise.
