2SC3648T-TD-E is a device of a single bipolar junction transistor (BJT) type. This device is most commonly employed in circuit applications such as amplifying existing signals or switching between input and output circuits.

A BJT is a type of transistor which allows current flow through two regions or junctions of a semiconductor material when a voltage is applied. The two regions form an N-type and P-type semiconductor layer, producing an electric field which causes the current from one region to the other. When the base-to-emitter voltage is increased beyond 0.6V, a significant amount of current flow occurs. This voltage is known as the cutoff voltage.
