ACST2-8SB-TR Working Principle

The ACST2-8SB-TR is an AC switch with a three-terminal form, works as a bidirectional switch. The switching process must depend on four operating states: the off-state, the turn-on state, the on-state and the turn-off state. During the off-state, the TRIAC just acts like an open circuit, no current between terminals. When the current voltage reaches the breakover voltage (BV) at one of three terminals, the off-state changes to the turn-on state. In the turn-on state, the TRIAC current flow in one direction, the gate-injected current increases the voltage and current of anode and cathode, then keep continuous conducting in two directions. The on-state of TRIAC can survive until the Vi decreases to zero.

The operation time of parameters defined by the turn-on delay time (td); the turn-on holding time (th); and the turn-off holding time (tf). The td and th are set by the gate injecting current. tf is determined by the ratio of voltage and current at the turn-off point and the minimum turn-off voltage (Vgui).
