The ACST6-7ST is composed of 3 separate parts—the gate, the main cathode, and the auxiliary cathode. In a normal operation, the main cathode is connected to the output terminal and the auxiliary cathode is connected to the input terminal of the transistor. As the gate is activated, the main cathode remains connected to the output terminal, and the auxiliary cathode is disconnected from the input terminal, thus allowing current flow between the output terminal and the ACST6–7ST.
