Evaluation and Demonstration Boards and Kits are electronic tools used for the development, testing and evaluation of products. An AD9520-1/PCBZ Evaluation Board is one such device. This Evaluation Board is a complete system solution for digital-to-analog frequency synthesis and consists of a frequency synthesis IC, a few support ICs, a serial peripheral interface, soft programmable clocks, an onboard programmable power management chip and a few other necessary components.

The Evaluation Board has several features to enable extremely low drift frequency synthesis. It includes the AB9520-1 frequency synthesizing integrated circuit from Analog Devices. This IC integrates a large number of analog functions such as IF to RF conversion, giving the user up to 100 MHz of frequency-hopping synthesis. It also includes a digital-to-analog converter, a reference clock and other support ICs.

The AD9520-1/PCBZ Evaluation Board is an ideal tool for evaluation and development of a wide variety of frequency synthesizers. For example, it can be used to develop high-performance, high-speed radios for mobile and wireless applications. It is also useful for applications such as RF test, instrumentation and radar. The Evaluation Board is also extremely useful for testing, evaluating and prototyping complex frequency-hopping and spread-spectrum systems.

The Evaluation Board includes a single-board controller, which is a combination of a serial port controller and a digital waveform capture and generation logic. This combination enables the user to control the board with a personal computer over a serial port. A number of useful diagnostic features are also accessible through the serial port, including a counter, a frequency generator, a calibrated power meter, an antenna analyzer, a calibration device and a number of other digital measurement and data acquisition features.

The AD9520-1/PCBZ Evaluation Board has built-in digital signal processing functions and a highly integrated analog-to-digital converter on the board. This ADC is able to analyze input signals in frequency, amplitude and phase. It also has a digital clock that can be programmed to perform a variety of clocking operations. In addition, the board also includes a full-frequency synthesizer that can generate output frequencies up to 200 MHz. The board also includes a real-time PLL and parameters that can be programmed and adjusted with a personal computer.

The AD9520-1/PCBZ Evaluation Board can also be used as a source of signals for medical imaging, commercial test equipment and other analog or digital signal processing applications.
