AD9520-4BCPZ application field and working principle
The AD9520-4BCPZ is a member of the AD9520 product family, a Clock and Timing Solutions series of clock generators and synthesizers designed to provide reliable, cost effective and low jitter clock distribution in order to support the stringent requirements of transmitting, receiving, switching and other operations. Specifically, the AD9520-4BCPZ is a clocking IC with an integrated “integrated” 22 picoamp (P) Low-Drift LVPECL output carrier. It has a very wide range of production temperatures, excellent low jitter, wide input frequency range and low-voltage single supply operation.
The AD9520-4BCPZ is specifically designed to provide output signals in telecom and telecom-related applications, such as VoIP, fiber-optic networks, 3G/4G/5G mobile networks, GigE, WiMAX and FTTH. It is able to generate clocks from very low to ultra-high frequency, while at the same time maintaining excellent jitter performance. The AD9520-4BCPZ is designed to operate over a wide range of temperatures, temperatures that are higher than that found in other conventional clock generators and synthesizers. Furthermore, it has a power supply range of 1.8V to 3.3V, and supports VCO frequency tuning for increased flexibility.
Working Principle of AD9520-4BCPZ
The working principle of the AD9520-4BCPZ is based on the classic phase-locked loop (PLL) circuitry. This consists of a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) that is phase-locked to an input clock signal and the residue of the input clock can be closely matched to the VCO frequency. By adjusting the frequency of the VCO, and monitoring the phase difference between the input clock and the output of the VCO, the loop can maintain its locked condition. This locked condition allows for accurate frequency control.
The AD9520-4BCPZ utilizes many of the same principles of PLL technology but in a very different and advanced way. The AD9520-4BCPZ can generate a wide range of frequencies with a very low-offset voltage controlled oscillator (VCO). Two additional technologies, Zero Delay Buffer (ZDB) and Low-Dropout Regulator (LDO) are used in order to minimize skew among the outputs and improve the ability of the AD9520-4BCPZ to generate very precise output signals.
