Direct digital synthesis (DDS) is an advanced signal generating technique used in modern microwave communication systems, navigation and control systems, radar systems, and aerospace engineering. DDS is a method used to generate a sine wave signal by a digital signal processor (DSP), which then modulates the signal frequency and amplitude according to a user-defined programming algorithm.
