The ADG508AKPZ is a 2-channel 8-bit, high-speed, low-on-resistance CMOS digital multiplexer/demultiplexer family that is ideal for both low and high voltage applications. This highly configurable device combines flexibility, low power dissipation, low on-resistance, low signals charge injection, and high speed switching. The ADG508AKPZ is available in a variety of package types, including SOIC and XDCP, making it suitable for a range of system-level applications including Automatic Test Equipment (ATE), radio frequency (RF) transceivers, automotive ECUs, and precision test and measurement systems.
ADG508AKPZ-REEL is a type of analog switch, multiplexer and demultiplexer. Its features include solid-state technology, low on-resistance, high-speed, low power consumption, and TTL-compatible logic. It also includes protection against static electric discharge, low signal-charge injection, and low cross-talk levels.
The device comes with 8 VDD & GND pins, 20 input pins and 8 output pins. It’s composed of an array of 2:1 multiplexers and 1:2 demultiplexers, where all of the output pins can be connected, providing a 1:8 or 2:16 ratio. The device is organized into two sets of eight channels; one set is used for multiplexing, while the other is used for demultiplexing. On each multiplexer, inputs can be routed to a single output. Similarly, on the demultiplexer, the output is routed to one of the two control inputs. Each selection of this control will switch one of the two output channels to V DD & GND.
The working principle of the ADG508AKPZ-REEL is simple; it is controlled by three logic control pins. The SELECT pins are utilized to select one of eight channels and the ENABLE pin is used to turn on the selected channel. The SELECT pin is held low (ground) to select a given channel. This requires either two digital bits or two analog signals as controls, depending on the configuration. For example, when a two-channel multiplexer is used, two signals are provided to determine high or low select voltage. When a two-channel demultiplexer is used, two digital bits determine the channel to be enabled.
The ADG508AKPZ-REEL is designed specifically for high voltage applications and can operate from 6V to 22V with a maximum on-resistance of 120 mO at 10V∈. The device operates with switching times as fast as 50 ns providing low power consumption and high speed for time-critical applications. The device is also static discharge (ESD) and electrostatic sensitive device (ESD) to up to 2kV, making it highly reliable in the most rigorous use cases. High input and output impedance values minimize signal interference and reduce errors in the switching function.
The ADG508AKPZ-REEL is an ideal interface device for a wide range of applications.
