Analog to digital converters (ADC’s) are electronic devices used to convert analog signals into digital data that a computer can understand. For the fastest sampling speed, a 12-bit address cycle is used in the successive approximation technique. During which the most significant bit is set and then the remaining bits are set one at a time. This type of cycle ensures that all bits are tested, leading to a very fast conversion time of 250 kHz since the 12-bit address cycle takes only 1µs. The maximum power consumption of the ADS5422Y/250 when operating at 250 kHz throughput is 27.6 mW.
