The ADS58J64IRMPT is a 2-channel interpolation-and-decimation filter-class ADC-DAC which is designed for high bandwidth, low power, and high accuracy applications. The combination of both the interpolating and decimating filter provides a key advantage over the more traditional approach of cascading the two systems. By allowing a single ADC to take on both functions, power dissipation is kept to a minimum, and large SNR gains can be achieved.The application field of the ADS58J64IRMPT is focused on areas where high accuracy, low power, and high throughput is required, such as in high-resolution multimedia imaging, low-latency communications, and streaming systems. Its ability to perform both interpolation and decimation provides a unique advantage in these areas, where power efficiency and accuracy are of the utmost concern. The device is particularly well suited for applications where the downsampling process is complex, such as HDTV down-conversion, picture-in-picture (PIP), and HD-SDI up-conversion.The working principle of the ADS58J64IRMPT is based on a combination of both interpolating and decimating filter operations. The interpolator has the task of upsampling the data stream for an increased sample rate, thus improving the SNR of the signal. The interpolator\'s low-pass nature also reduces the effects of image artifacts and aliasing. The decimator is then used to downsample the data stream, thus returning the sample rate to the original value. The combined result of upsampling and downsampling is an improved SNR, with a reduced power requirement, and limited possibility of image artifacting.The ADS58J64IRMPT achieves very high performance in both upsampling and downsampling operations, due to the combination of its filter architecture, and the advanced clocking design. For the upsampling operations, the device utilizes an adaptive resampling architecture, which is tolerant of wide frequency response variations in the incoming signal. The decimation stages are also adaptive in nature, being able to reject input signals which exhibit wide frequency response variation.Due to the accuracy achieved through its combination of upsampling and downsampling operations, and its low power requirement, the ADS58J64IRMPT is a great choice for high-resolution multimedia imaging, low-latency communications, and streaming systems. Its combination of interpolating and decimating filters provides the greatest SNR gains, and the lowest power consumption, in any product of its class.
