BA7824FP-E2 Application Field and Working Principle
The BA7824FP-E2 is a member of a family of linear voltage regulators from the ROHM Company, a Japanese electronics manufacturer. This device is commonly used in the voltage application field in which three up or down regulated outputs are used for various applications. It is designed for low-current applications and provides a very local and efficient voltage regulating action.The BA7824FP-E2 is a three-terminal linear voltage regulator. It includes an on-board error amplifier circuit and a transistor that can be connected to an external heat sink. This device is suited for powering both analog and digital circuits and is capable of supplying high current without the need of a separate current feedback circuitry. It also includes a built-in overcurrent protection circuit and has high output accuracy.The BA7824FP-E2 regulator operates within a fixed voltage range. It has two voltage outputs systems consisting of two independent outputs; the Output Voltage Adjustment terminal output (VFB) and the Common Output Voltage Common (VCA) terminal output. The voltage range for the Output Voltage Adjustment terminal is adjustable from 0.7V to 7V. This is the regulated output voltage, which is also the regulated power supply voltage of the load. The devices provide a fast response time when the input voltage changes and can supply a maximum current of 1A.The working principle of the regulator works by using an error amplifier circuit. The error amplifier compares the actual output voltage to the reference voltage. A negative feedback loop is created between the output voltage and the feedback voltage, which is provided by the external resistor in the VFB circuit. Whenever the actual output voltage is lower than the reference voltage, the output of the error amplifier increases, driving the internal PMOS transistor harder, which in turn increases the output voltage. When the actual output voltage is higher than the reference voltage, the output of the error amplifier decreases, driving the internal PMOS transistor less hard, which decreases the output voltage.The BA7824FP-E2 is capable of meeting a wide range of applications, such as battery chargers, portable equipment, automotive applications, industrial power supplies, and various communication components. Furthermore, it is a highly reliable, low-current device that can be easily incorporated into a wide range of voltage regulating circuits.
