At this point, the diode is said to be “reverse biased” or “in the OFF state”.

This, in combination with its maximum reverse voltage of 100V, makes the BAS21-7 suitable for a variety of rectification applications, such as AC adapters, power supplies, and choke-input filtering circuits.
