BC546B (116) is a type of single bipolar transistor commonly used in several electronic devices. The two p-type layers are commonly known as the emitter and collector while the n-type layer is known as the base. When the voltage applied to the base is increased, the transistor turns on and allows majority carrier currents to flow from the emitter to the collector. When the base voltage is decreased, the same currents will be reduced and the transistor will turn off.The BC546B (116) transistor is one of the most commonly used transistors in electronics today, owing to its wide range of applications and relatively low cost.
