• Working Principle: BC547ABU is based on bipolar junction transistor (BJT) technology which enables the device to control and switch large currents with very little power. The device consists of three terminals – the Base, the Collector and the Emitter.The purpose of the base is to control the current flow between the collector and emitter terminals. The voltage applied to the base terminal determines the current flow between the collector and emitter terminals. For example, when the voltage applied to the base is 0v, the transistor is in its “off” state, thus blocking any current from flowing between the collector and emitter terminals. Conversely, when a higher voltage is applied to the base, the transistor becomes “on” thus allowing current to flow between the collector and emitter terminals.In order to achieve the desired current flow, BC547ABU utilises the collector-base junction which acts as an amplifier. This is because the current flow between the collector and emitter terminals is proportional to the voltage applied to the base terminal. Therefore, the higher the voltage applied to the base terminal, the higher the current flow between the collector and emitter terminals.Another important feature of BC547 is its saturation current, which is the point at which the voltage applied to the base terminal has no effect on the current flow between the collector and emitter terminals. This can be seen when the collector-to-base junction is in its “on” state.
