BCP68T1G is a high voltage, high-speed NPN general-purpose silicon avalanche power BJT transistor. It belongs to the Single Bipolar (BJT) transistor category. The BCP68T1G is mainly used to in high-voltage power supply circuits and is suitable for 125V switching and amplification circuits. With proper construction and circuit design, it can be used in circuits subjected to increased voltage or surge voltage, or fast switching applications.

The BCP68T1G is made up of a silicon junction layer formed in between two heavily doped regions. The B-terminal is the Base region, the C-terminal is the Collector region and the E-terminal is the Emitter region. The Base and Collector regions are connected to its base terminal, the Emitter region is connected to its emitter terminal. The Collector region is much larger than the base and emitter regions and provides most of the current gain.

The BCP68T1G’s working principle is based on the principle of “PNP”. N-Type semiconductor material will allow current to flow from left to right from Terminal C to B when the base terminal gets a signal. When the Base terminal is grounded, the transistor stops functioning and the current flow stops. This state is known as “Cut-Off” condition. When the Base terminal is forward biased, the junctions between the emitter and the base will open and electrons will flow from the emitter to the collector. This is known as “Saturation” condition or “Forward Bias”.

BCP68T1G can be used to switch or amplify voltage signals of different polarity including DC, AC, and Pulse applications. The BCP68T1G is used across a wide variety of industrial and consumer electronics designs due to its durability, speed and reliability. Common applications include switch mode power supplies, motor control circuits, heating, lighting, refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, consumer electronics, power amplifier circuits, robots, sound boards, and other high-power switching and amplification applications.
