CY3210-PLOC10 is a powerful Control and Sensor Evaluation Kit from Cypress Semiconductor. Designed for SWD/JTAG debug applications, it incorporates an energy efficient Cypress PSoC 3 / PSoC 5 microcontroller architecture and features a host of evaluation extras such as capacitive touch sensing, LEDs, LCD display, as well as Temperature, Humidity and Pressure sensing capability. It allows the user to evaluate the performance of the Cypress PSoC 3 / PSoC 5 microcontroller architecture, enabling experimentation, development and implementation of a variety of customer applications.

The kit includes Cypress PSoC Express environment which allows fast application development. With this software, the user can easily program the processor, without the need of any prior knowledge about the architecture. PSoC Express provides customizable mix-and-match components (modules) to design quick functional systems. It also includes a comprehensive set of pre-integrated peripherals that enable the user to develop an application and algorithm without any hassles.

The device features 10 capacitive touch pads, which can detect touch or no-touch commands from objects such as clothing, paper or even a finger. To simplify the design process, the kit also provides capacitive sensing component libraries. With these libraries, the user can easily create the project, and can then develop custom capacitive sensors that can detect touch events accurately and quickly.

The PSoC could be powered using two power sources; an external power supply from 3.6V to 5.25V or with USB cable, connected to a PC. The board also includes a Micro-USB connector with which the user can interface to PC, to program the device. It has a 12MHz oscillator which provides the clock for system. A watchdog timer is also included in the hardware, which will detect various errors like stuck data or communication failure, and provide appropriate signals. Onboard LEDs are used to provide feedback information.

The board is further enhanced with additional hardware such as temperature sensor, humidity sensor, pressure sensor, and LCD display. These sensors can detect various environmental changes such as temperature, humidity and pressure and can be integrated with the PSoC for generating alert signals. The LCD display, which is 10.4 inch color display provides detailed graphical output to the user. It also includes a 5-pin JTAG interface, to allow debugging options for the user.

The performance of the PSoC is evaluated using the capacitive touch sensing applications, which are included in the provided library set. Using the capacitive sensing library, the user can easily create the required program to evaluate the performance of the touch pads. Similarly, the temperature, humidity and pressure sensors can be evaluated with the help of library functions and used accordingly in different applications.
