The EVAL-ADUC7026QSZ is a featured evaluation board specifically designed for the high performance ADuC7026 from Analog Devices. It is part of a growing family of QSZ compatible evaluation boards, helping engineers to quickly achieve a proof-of-concept and reduce development risk in a wide variety of applications.
The ADuC7026QSZ is a versatile, high-performance board module based on the ADuC7026 microcontroller, and is an ideal platform for evaluating the precision data acquisition and control capabilities offered by the ADuC7026. It is well suited for a variety of industrial and consumer applications, such as embedded control and monitoring, robotics, process control, and power-system control. With a wide range of I/O capabilities, including 2 dual-modulus captured channels, the board promises a host of possibilities for the experimental evaluation of the potential advantages of the ADuC7026.
The EVAL-ADUC7026QSZ board features a 32-bit low-power ARM7TDMI processor, analogue inputs, digital I/O, pulse width modulation (PWM) output, USB interface, EEPROM, and an LCD character display. Its on-board D/A converter provides 8-bit resolution and 12-bit accuracy, and the board comes with 16KB of flash memory and 2KB of SRAM. The board also includes two dual-modulus capture channels for PWM signal generation, capture, and modulation.
The EVAL-ADUC7026QSZ supports a wide range of operating modes, including run, debug, halt, single step, and flash programming. The board also supports plug-and-play operation, allowing users to quickly plug in the device and start operation in no time. It is also equipped with a low-level diagnostic tool, providing access to various system resources such as I/O ports, memory locations, interrupts, and the power management module.
The working principle of the board is pretty simple. In its run mode, it operates as an autonomous system executing individual instructions sequence. The instruction sequence is based on the ADuC7026’s assembly instructions, which include jumps, subroutine calls, branching, addition, subtraction, shifts, logical operations, and other operations like comparing, loading, and storing values. In its debug mode, the board allows users to observe the execution state of the ADuC7026. It also supports three levels of breakpoints, thereby providing flexibility to trace and view the system internals. Moreover, it allows users to monitor peripherals such as timers, memory locations, and interrupt conditions, in addition to setting and deleting breakpoints.
Furthermore, the board also supports power management. It provides various power saving modes such as Sleep, Power Down, and System Reset. Sleep mode reduces power consumption by disabling internal peripherals while maintaining user data in internal memory. In Power Down mode, the board puts the processor into a low-power standby mode, but is still able to wake up and perform a designated action when needed. System Reset mode is for resetting the board and starting the system from scratch. All these power management modes are available with a single key press, and can be set to different levels, giving users enough control over power consumption.
EVAL-ADUC7026QSZ evaluation board is an ideal reference design for developers and engineers looking to develop systems based on the ADuC7026 microcontroller. Its versatile I/O capabilities, together with its wide range of operating modes and power-saving features, make it a perfect fit for a variety of applications. With the help of the intuitive onboard diagnostic tool, engineers can easily evaluate and debug their designs, reducing development time and complexity.
