GP10-4003-E3/73 is a single-phase, three-wire, full-controlled rectifier module (silicon rectifier bridge) developed by the Japanese semiconductor maker Diode Semiconductor & Electronics Corporation. It belongs to the diodes- rectifiers- single category. The rectifier module can be widely used in power converters, electric vehicles, photovoltaic power, green energy sources such as wind power and other applications. In addition, it can be used in frequency conversion systems, UPS systems and military power systems. The working principle of the rectifier bridge is the the same as that of conventional silicon rectifier bridge. It consists of two antiparallel diodes connected in series with a common low resistance connection at its output (anode). The working voltage is equal to the input voltage, and the base voltage is higher than the diode forward voltage drop. The output current is controlled by dual control signals of VCONT and ICONT. When the input voltage and load current are within their application range, the rectifier bridge will operate normally. The VCONT and ICONT control signals can adjust the output voltage and current to a given value. In case of over-voltage or over-current, the rectifier bridge can protect itself in a very short time by shutting off the voltage and current outputs. When the over-voltage or over-current is released, the device will immediately resume normal operation. The control signals VCONT and ICONT used by the rectifier bridge mostly use several methods including voltage, current, pulse width modulation (PWM) and phase shift control. The PWM and phase-shift methods use a pair of complementary signals, which are applied to the rectifier bridge from the control circuit. The frequency and duty cycle of the PWM voltage determine the effective value of the output current that can be obtained from the rectifier. The phase-shift control method is a further improvement of the PWM method, in which two phase-shifted complementary signals are used as the PWM control signals. Through the phase shift, the two signals are changing with time according to the same phase relationship. This reduces the switching losses of the rectifier bridge and improves the performance, making it much more efficient than the traditional PWM control method.
