In the positive half-wave of the power supply, diode D1 is in a conductive phase, and diode D2 is in a non-conductive phase. At the same time, when the AC voltage polarity of the power supply in the negative half-wave is reversed, D1 is in a non-conductive phase, and D2 is in a conductive phase. Thus, only when D1 and D2 are in their conductive phases can current flow through the rectifier Diode. In other words, within a certain period of time, current only conducts in one direction.
