Applications

GP10V-E3/54 is suitable mainly where rectifying current is a concern. It can be employed in cordless phone adapter, LCD TV power supply, ITE ( information technology equipment ), wireless base station, automotive system, personal computer and SMPS ( switch mode power supply ) etc. Once its properties are brought into play, the product’s features such as its ample rectifying capacity and low forward voltage drop could be quickly realised.

Working Principle

The GP10V-E3/54 rectifies a given current by allowing to conduct in one direction only. Inside of it, there is an anode, a terminal connected to the voltage source, which gives the consumed electrons, and the cathode which absorbs the electron flow for the next circuit. This remarkable semiconductor operates basically when the applied voltage reaches a recorded value, which is also known as Breakdown or Zener Voltage. When this occurs, the diode gets ‘on’, letting current to flow in only one direction.When the flow of electrons is been directed from anode to cathode, the device is said to be in the forward bias condition; the opposite voltage polarity keeps standing by, but the current flow is stopped due to the junction barrier properties. The GP10V-E3/54 was designed to enable a minimum of 0.7V of reverse voltage when supplying 1A of reverse current, what is usually referred to as Zener Voltage.The GP10V-E3/54 comprises of three technical stages to complete its process. The first stage, Reverse Bias, refer to the blocking mode condition where the applied polarity downgrades the current flow and circuit activity, making it unable to perform beyond this point. That is why this stage is considered to be inactive.In the second stage, Breakdown, the GP10V-E3/54 allows the current flow to pass through it when the high voltage reaches the Breakdown Voltage result. The diode is now suitable to provide an operational current output and the circuit is now fully active.Finally, Forward Bias will take over once the applied voltage is reduced below the Breakdown Voltage and the current will flow in the circuit in the opposite direction as previously explained in the first stage. This is used to decrease the amount of voltage that enters the next circuit.
