HIP4082IBZ is a high performance, low power, 8A, N-channel power MOSFET and IGBT gate driver integrated circuit (IC) designed by Intersil Corporation. This device serves as a bridge between control logic and the gate of a high power MOSFET or IGBT. It provides a high-current gate drive buffer and a low-level input threshold voltage of 0.8V. It features a wide operating temperature range of -40 to +125°C and is available in a small SOIC-8 package.
The HIP4082IBZ is mainly used in a variety of power management applications such as in DC/DC converters and battery chargers, as well as in applications like switching power supplies, LED drivers, and motor drivers. HIP4082IBZ is the world’s first N-channel power MOSFET and IGBT gate driver integrated circuit that employs data processing techniques to reduce its power consumption while still providing high-speed switching. The device offers high drive current of 8A, low power dissipation of less than 6nA, adjustable turn-on and turn-off delays and optimized waveforms. It also features logic level compatible inputs, with 10PPM accuracy, and is able to directly control an N-channel MOSFET or IGBT.
HIP4082IBZ Gate Driver comprises of a single stage power MOSFET/IGBT driver, internal charge pump, and level shift output. It reduces the need to add external components, making operation easier and cost-efficient. Its internal charge pump consists of two capacitors and two charge pumps that provide 8A of peak drive current. The level shift output is provided to enable compatibility with MOSFET and IGBT gates.
HIP4082IBZ Gate Driver works on the principle of using logic level input signals to control a large currents needed to drive the MOSFET or IGBT.
