IR 2011STR is a principal component in the PMIC-Gate Drivers segment. It is a high-speed gate or level shifter driver with three output channels, which facilitates power and data to be provided to other ICs that are connected in parallel. This device can be used in a variety of applications such as, isolated power systems, isolated lighting, automotive and industrial systems, and more.
The IR 2011STR offers high-speed, real-time data rate from 2E6 bps (bits-per-second) to 5E6 bps, with an adjustable bias current range from -8 mA to +4 mA. It is equipped with two protected data channels and one unprotected data channel. The device also provides an output voltage swing range of ±4A, suitable for driving both bipolar and MOSFETs. It is also capable of withstanding the load of up to 500W and maintained load between 0A and 4A.
The working principle of the IR 2011STR is based on the concept of switching between logic and CMOS (Complimentary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) signals. As such, it draws a logic signal (high or low) from the output channel and generates a corresponding CMOS signal that can be send to other electronic devices. Any variation in the input and output signal is detected through the adjustable bias current of the driver, ensuring the accuracy of the signal.
The IR 2011STR also offers an internal thermal protection mechanism. This feature ensures the device will not be subjected to damages due to overheating.The thermal protection system is based on the following principles: a temperature-sensitive element inside the driver triggers a warning signal to prevent over-heating damage. In addition, The IR 2011STR also comes with a slew-rate control feature. This feature helps control the swing rate of the output signals by limiting the rise and fall time of the signals.In this way, it helps reduce the possibility of data stray and interference for other ICs connected in parallel. In effect, the slew-rate control helps in providing a level of isolation between the connected ICs, allowing them to function independently.
