The IRGR4607DPBF is a single Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT). Its application field and working principle makes it an indispensable part of many power applications, like motor drives, SMPS, UPS etc..

The IGBT combines the majority carrier injection characteristics from the bipolar junction transistor (BJT) and the field effect transistor (FET) to reduce switching losses and improve system robustness. In this way, it can handle high current and has high input impedance.

IRGR4607DPBF is a 600V 70A, 4-pin device, which supports all the required features for cost effective and high performance applications, for example, the user can use integrated gate turn-off (GTO) protection circuit and temperature diodes.

In addition, its fast switching time, low on-state and conduction losses make this device ideal for three-phase motor drive, switching regulator, AC and rectifier applications.

The working principle of the IRGR4607DPBF IGBT is based on the known principle of the bipolar transistor (BJT) and the field effect transistor (FET). Characteristically, an IGBT consists of an emitter, base and collector region. When no voltage is applied to the gate electrode, the flow of electrons is blocked, that is, an IGBT presents an "OFF state" or "OFF condition". In this case, no conduction takes place between the emitter and collector region and there is no ON state current. When a control voltage is applied to the gate electrode, the current starts flowing from collector to emitter, thus the turn-on voltage is realized, that is, the device presents an "ON state" or "ON condition". In this state, the conduction of electrons takes place and an ON state current is established.

Thus we can see that the IRGR4607DPBF IGBT is an ideal solution for a variety of applications requiring fast switching, low on-state and conduction losses, as well as high power handling capabilities.
