If the voltage is within range, the driver passes the supply voltage and the Hot Swap Controller then turns on the cooling fan. If the supply voltage is out of range, a fault is signaled and the driver shuts down the supply voltage, preventing any potential damage to the load.

If an overtemperature event occurs, the ISL6140CBZ shuts down the supply voltage, signaling a fault. The device then waits for a time and if the temperature is still high, it signals a fault and the driver again shuts down the supply voltage. If the temperature is still high, the cycle repeats up to 3 times before putting the system into a safe and cool operating state.
