ISL6613IBZ

ISL6613IBZ is a high performance gate driver from Intersil, designed to drive Power Metal-Oxide FETs (MOSFETs) with up to six parallel channels to maximize efficiency and reduce cost for applications such as motor drives, power converters, and power tools. The integrated 3.2A source and 3.2A sink capability of the ISL6613IBZ enables powerful and efficient switching of the MOSFETs, while the wide operating voltage range of 3.3V to 16V and programmable current limits offer an increased system protection.

ISL6613IBZ offers a simple programmable current limit and “Soft Start” function that reduces the current spikes during start-up. The device is also equipped with “Cross-Conduction Prevention” to eliminate shoot-through current associated with gate capacitance. This will ensure stable and reliable switching of the MOSFET even in high power loading applications.

Working Principle

ISL6613IBZ integrates an input high voltage detector that monitors the input voltage to limit its current output. The action of the current limit function can be programmed by an internal register. The gate driver is equipped with the “Soft Start” function that is used to reduce the current spike when the device is powered on. This will help to minimize the impact on the components and system electrical performance when the gate driver is switched on.

The “Cross-Conduction Prevention” feature eliminates shoot-though current when two MOSFETs are simultaneously activated. The device also includes an adjustable dead time (from 0.5ns to 3.5ns) to ensure a consistent dead time delay and increase the accuracy of the MOSFETs in the power loop. Additionally, the device operates up to 16V to meet high voltage application requirements.
