The JN5169KIT/03Z is a RF Evaluation and Development Kit, Board designed to evaluate all of the features of the JN5169 network controller. It comprises two boards which can be used independently, but are optimized to work together. The main board is the JN5169KIT/03 which contains the JN5169 RF Network Processor IC. The secondary board is the MCU board JN5169KIT/03Z which is a development board that uses the MSP430F149. It is designed to allow customers to evaluate the JN5169 together with the associated MSP430F149, as well as provide an example platform for creating their own applications. The JN5169KIT/03Z is also applicable to applications requiring wireless communication with an RF bridge, such as Energy Management, Home Automation, Lighting Control, and Robotics.

The JN5169KIT/03Z is comprised of two boards, the JN5169KIT/03 MCU board as mentioned before, and the JN5169 Module with the packaged JN5169 Network Processor IC. The JN5169 Module has a 100-pin connector for a UART to communicate with the MCU. The JN5169KIT/03 also has a MicroSD card slot, LEDs, Copper RF port, and USB Connectors.

The JN5169KIT/03Z operating frequency is 868MHz in Europe, and it can be used with the JN5169 series ICs to evaluate all features available to the Network Processor. It is fully supported with the JN-AN-1210 Zigbee 3.0 Network Processor production-ready software stack, which enables customers to easily evaluate the features of Zigbee 3.0 as well as add additional features. It also works with the JN5169 Series for Smart Energy applications, as well as Zigbee Home Automation and Lighting Control applications. The JN-AN-1278ZHA-CPPA-SW is also available, providing support for Zigbee Home Automation and Lighting Control applications.

The JN5169KIT/03Z is also compatible with the new JN5169 Security for Over-the-Air Programming. OTA Security for the JN5169 allows the embedded application software to be updated remotely using wireless communication. The JN5169KIT/03Z also supports software development using the IAR Embedded Workbench for MSP430 and Code Composer Studio version 6, which enables customers to develop applications in C/C++ and other languages.
