Working Principle of L6599DTR
The L6599DTR works by multiplying an input voltage to a first internal voltage reference and generating a vref voltage at the COMP pin of the control loop. This voltage is compared with the vfb feedback input voltage to generate Gate drive PWM signals. Once the Vref voltage is lower than the Vfb, the IC stops the output switching, and the output voltage is accurately regulated and steady-state. If a low load is detected, the device can automatically enter PFM (pulse frequency modulation) mode in order to reduce power consumption. If a high load is detected, the device can automatically switch to PWM (pulse width modulation) mode to support heavy loads.
In addition, the L6599DTR supports the PUMA Analog Control Mode, which allows communication with external control systems and allows setting the output voltage from 0.6V to 5V with an accuracy of ±2%. The device can also provide protection against under-voltage lockouts (UVLO), over-voltage protection (OVP) and input over-current protection (IPK) to ensure system safety. Furthermore, it operates in a wide input voltage range of 4.5V-29V, making it suitable for applications under varying input voltage levels.
