PMIC is short for Power Management Integrated Circuit (Power Management Integrated Circuit), which is widely used for power supply control, power supply monitoring, power management and other fields. The L6599DTR is a synchronous buck step-down DC/DC voltage regulator capable of providing up to 3A loads. It works by regulating input voltage to a regulated output voltage, while supporting PUMA analog control, Power Save mode and automatic PFM/PWM switching.

Application Field of L6599DTR

Due to its highly integrated structure, the L6599DTR is a great choice for applications requiring a simple and efficient power management solution. Working Principle of L6599DTR

The L6599DTR works by multiplying an input voltage to a first internal voltage reference and generating a vref voltage at the COMP pin of the control loop. This voltage is compared with the vfb feedback input voltage to generate Gate drive PWM signals. Once the Vref voltage is lower than the Vfb, the IC stops the output switching, and the output voltage is accurately regulated and steady-state. If a low load is detected, the device can automatically enter PFM (pulse frequency modulation) mode in order to reduce power consumption. If a high load is detected, the device can automatically switch to PWM (pulse width modulation) mode to support heavy loads.

In addition, the L6599DTR supports the PUMA Analog Control Mode, which allows communication with external control systems and allows setting the output voltage from 0.6V to 5V with an accuracy of ±2%. The device can also provide protection against under-voltage lockouts (UVLO), over-voltage protection (OVP) and input over-current protection (IPK) to ensure system safety. Furthermore, it operates in a wide input voltage range of 4.5V-29V, making it suitable for applications under varying input voltage levels.
