The LAN8742AI-CZ is a fully-integrated Ethernet transceiver that provides physical layer signal transmission and reception functions for 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, and 1000BASE-T communication systems. The LAN8742AI-CZ offers user-programmable control of signal transmission parameters, allowing it to be adapted to specific system requirements. The LAN8742AI-CZ is ideal for cost-sensitive applications such as VoIP phones, network access points, digital signage, security, and industrial automation products.
The LAN8742AI-CZ is a single-chip 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, and 1000BASE-T transceiver. It has four main functions: driving the differential transmit signal out of four twisted pair pairs at the system’s PHY port; receiving the differential input signal from four twisted pair pairs at the system’s PHY port; analog auto-negotiation- handling the automatic device detection; and a combination of the previous three functions, enabling auto-detection and rate negotiation, as well as auto-switching between 10Base-T, 100Base-TX, and 1000Base-T.
The LAN8742AI-CZ is a low-cost, low-power 10/100/1000 Ethernet interface designed to simplify networking of low-power, cost-sensitive embedded designs. It consumes just 106mW maximum in full operation, and it has an integrated power-down mode to reduce power consumption when the device is not needed. The transceiver supports flow control and full-duplex mode operation to provide error-free data transmission. It also features robust operation in noisy environments and ESD protection.
The LAN8742AI-CZ supports an integrated PHY for data transmission and reception. It supports 10/100 and 1000Mbps data rates, as well as half-duplex and full-duplex operational modes. It includes an integrated medium access controller that provides address recognition for multiple devices. The transceiver performs auto-negotiation of the medium type, speed, and duplex mode according to the IEEE 802.3u and 802.3z standards. The device supports six medium types: 10Base-T, 100Base-TX, 1000Base-T, twisted pair shielded lines, fiber optic, and coaxial cables.
The LAN8742AI-CZ supports link faults, transceiver connect and disconnect events, energy detect mode, and signal detection. It also provides integrated hardware filtering and signal conditioning to reduce cable noise and crosstalk. The integrated PHY provides signal conditioning and strength enhancement, an adaptive equalizer, etc., to improve signal reception.
The LAN8742AI-CZ is an ideal 10/100/1000 Ethernet interface for embedded applications. Its low cost and low power, along with its ability to support multiple medium types and speeds, make it an ideal solution for cost-sensitive and power-sensitive designs.
